MyHomi ("we", "us", or "our") is a home maintenance reminder app that helps homeowners and renters stay on top of seasonal and routine maintenance tasks. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our mobile application and website.

  • Account information: your name, email address, and authentication credentials (via Google, Apple, or email sign-up).
  • Property information: home name, location (city and province), property type, ownership status, and home features (e.g., pool, fireplace, lawn) that you provide during onboarding.
  • Task data: maintenance tasks, completion history, notes, and scheduling preferences.
  • Device information: push notification tokens and device platform (iOS or Android) for delivering notifications.
  • Photos: if you choose to attach photos to tasks, we access your camera or photo library with your permission. Photos are stored securely and associated with your account.
  • Usage analytics: anonymous usage data to help us improve the app experience (via PostHog).

How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and personalize the home maintenance reminder service.
  • To generate maintenance tasks tailored to your property type, features, and location.
  • To send push notifications for upcoming and overdue tasks.
  • To enable sharing homes with co-owners and family members.
  • To improve the app through anonymous usage analytics.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. Your data is only shared in the following circumstances:

  • With co-owners you invite to share a home — they can see the home's tasks, notes, and completion history.
  • With service providers that help us operate the app (Supabase for authentication and database, Expo for push notifications, PostHog for analytics, Google Places for address lookup).
  • When required by law or to protect our rights.

Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored securely using Supabase (powered by PostgreSQL) with row-level security policies ensuring you can only access your own data. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Authentication is handled through industry-standard protocols (OAuth 2.0 for Google and Apple, secure password hashing for email accounts).

Camera & Photo Library

MyHomi requests access to your device's camera and photo library only when you choose to attach photos to maintenance tasks. This permission is optional and the app functions fully without it. Photos are stored securely and are only visible to you and any co-owners of the associated home.

Push Notifications

With your permission, we send push notifications to remind you of upcoming and overdue maintenance tasks. You can disable notifications at any time from your profile settings within the app or from your device settings.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access and update your personal information through the app.
  • Delete your account and all associated data by contacting us.
  • Opt out of push notifications at any time.
  • Request a copy of your data by contacting us.

Children's Privacy

MyHomi is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
